Vriesea Gigantea Nova

Vriesea Gigantea Nova, of the Bromeliad family, is a wide leaf plant with a beautiful rosette shape and slow growing in nature. Vertical markings of light to medium green along the growth pattern of the plant.

The “Nova” has more mottling on its leaves than the standard Vriesea Gigantea and it can grow large - up to 30” wide.

Vriesea can be grown similarly to air plants as they are epiphytic in nature. They use their roots to hang on to rocks, bark, and soil. If planting in soil use a mix of orchid and bromeliad substrate. Lightly water substrate when dry.

Mostly water in the central reservoir of the plant to avoid root rot. Fertilizing works best if sprayed or added into the central reservoir when watering.
