Schefflera actinophylla "Amate"

Originally native to the shaded areas beneath the rainforest canopies of Australia and New Guinea, Schefflera Amate is a rapid growing tropical tree reaching impressive heights of 65 feet in its natural habitat. As a result of its striking leaf formation, it is also referred to as the Umbrella Tree, lending a warm and tropical feel to any location with its vibrant, glossy green foliage.

The Schefflera thrives in indoor conditions and is able to flourish in medium light locations, making it an excellent choice for areas where other larger plants may struggle, like ficus. It is recommended to position your Schefflera in a spot that receives indirect light ranging from medium to bright, such as in a window facing North or East. For South or West facing windows, it is best to place the plant at a distance of 5-10ft from the window to avoid leaf damage.

Schefflera actinophylla "Amate" thrives when allowed to significantly dry out between waterings. Overwatering is a common mistake made with this plant, so it is important to let the soil almost completely dry out before watering again. Generally, watering every 10 days is sufficient for this plant, and it should not be watered if the top half of the potting medium is still moist.

The Schefflera can grow upwards of 8 feet tall indoors. To tame the plant's growth and maintain a bushier appearance, prune the new growth tips.

Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust the leaves often!
